I was warned about the dangers of building a company, but I was never warned about the implications it would have on the rest of my life.
You see, building a product or anything worthwhile, from my perspective, is hardcore. But one thing that has constantly been on my mind is balancing building with maintaining my health and safety so I can actually see this company through.
The title of this post is building for 10 months straight, but the truth is, there was at least a month in there where I couldn't work because I was bedridden from the stress catching up with me.
And boy, did I rest.
But it wasn't just about rest. It was about nutrition and exercise too, which I have now fully integrated into my routines so that it never gets to that point again.
You see, no one tells you that if you love doing something so much, you would do whatever it takes to make sure you can keep doing it.
Four months ago, that meant working nonstop without a care in the world.
Now, it means making sure I'm healthy and fit so I can actually keep building for the long term.
Eventually, I'll learn more. I'll get better. I'll keep growing.
I'm not the man I was a year ago, and that is very intentional.
I'm not where I want to be yet, but I know that 40 years from now, I'll look back at this period as Day 1.
And I'll be thankful for every part of it.
